ABOUT POTASH

Potash and its importance

Potash Products are an indispensable and permanent mineral in many areas of our everyday lives.

Potash is primarily used in the agricultural sector as a mineral fertilizer.

Potash is also used as an additive or auxiliary material in a wide variety of industrial processes (including glass manufacturing, chemical and pharmaceutical industry).

Sustainable growth

An adequate supply of the individual agricultural crops with the plant nutrient potash is essential to meet the increasing needs of the growing world population with agricultural products.

Because there is no substitute for potash, it plays an indispensable role in increasing food production in a sustainable manner to help feed the world’s growing population. The use of potash not only helps increase crop yields but it also improves the quality of agricultural products.

Usage & Commercialisation

Potash (potassium chloride, KCL, and potassium sulphate, K2SO4) is used as an agricultural fertilizer, directly, or is blended with other fertilizers as NPK formula fertilizer.

Potassium chloride is generally commercialized in either a standard/powder form or in non-standard forms, including but not limited to, a granular form. The product is classified into three basic categories, based on the K2O content:

  • potassium content not exceeding 40% K2O
  • potassium content exceeding 40% K2O but less than or equal to 62%
  • potassium content over 62% K2O
